Puerto Rico

Jen and I were able to go to Puerto Rico in September.  I had to go for two weeks for business and luckily Jen was able to tag along for the first week.  She couldn't stay for two weeks because of school and because she would have missed Noah too much.  We took a bunch of pictures so I am just going to show them and put a little description above them.  Unfortunately they are all out of order because I still don't have a grasp on this blogging thing.

This is a picture of us leaving Culebra.  It truly was a beautiful place.

This picture was taken after we realized that we got fried on the island.  We applied our sunblock twice, but it didn't seem to help.  Take a close look at Jen's arms and neck.  Yikes!
More pictures of the beach at Culebra.
On Saturday we took an hour ferry ride to the island of culebra.  The island used to be an old marine/navy/army base.  Not sure which branch.  The island had the most beautiful beach I have ever seen hands down.  The water was so clear and warm it was surreal.  Here is a picture of one of the abandoned tanks on the beach.
Here is Jen looking for the cheese at the end of the maze.
This is the waterfall at the rain forest.  Again this was one of Jen's excursions that I did not get to go on.  It looks really nice though.
Here is a picture of the rain forest.
This is a picture of the second hotel we stayed at.  It was a big resort with a golf course.
This is Jen sampling some of the native cuisine.Buen Provecho!
Jen went out on a little adventure with the girlfriend of one of my coworkers.  They went through the most poor area in San Juan.  I guess Jen thought it would be a good idea to take a picture of a family playing in the fire hydrant.  Notice the mothers outfit.....
This is at the fort at old San Juan.
This is the first hotel we stayed at.  It was the Marriott in San Juan.  The beach here was beautiful.  Both of us having grown up in Northern California had never experienced such warm clear water.

This is me in Old San Juan.  I guess this is the place where the Pina Colada was invented.  I have yet to verify that statement on Wikipedia.  I must say they had the most delicious VIRGIN Pina Coladas I have ever had.

In Old San Juan there is a street that is nothing but high end stores.  Here is a picture of the Burberry store.  All of the stores had apartments above them with really pretty flowers.

The second hotel we stayed at did not have a beach.  Instead it had it's own private island and had a ferry running back and forth all day.  Here is a picture of the island.  Only Jen was able to go because I had to work.

This is another picture of Old San Juan it was really neat because a lot of the streets are still the original cobble stone.
We had a blast and can't wait to go back next year!

Sooo beautiful! It looks like you guys had a great time.
Seeing that beached tank reminded me of my days in the navy and that’s really nice to exploit poor little children who use neighborhood fire hydrants to cool themselves off. The mothers outfit?! What outfit more like it!
